/ FLORIDA SCHOLARSHIP EXPLAINED
Florida offers some of the most robust educational funding in the country, but unlocking those funds comes with strict government compliance, purchasing matrices, and hidden deadlines. Here is what you need to know before you start spending.
/ THE BIG THREE
Each scholarship program serves a different educational need and comes with unique compliance requirements, eligibility structures, and funding flexibility.
01
The Personalized Education Program (FES-PEP)
Designed for students not enrolled full-time in a public or private school. Important note: Accepting a PEP scholarship means legally terminating your traditional county "home education" status. You are now accountable to the FES, and strict annual testing and Student Learning Plans (SLPs) apply.
02
The Unique Abilities Scholarship(FES-UA)
Designed for students ages 3 to 22 with a diagnosed disability or an active IEP/504 plan. This ESA allows for maximum flexibility, covering everything from specialized curriculum and therapies to contracted Choice Navigator services.
03
The Educational Options Scholarship (FES-EO)
The traditional scholarship for students attending a participating private school full-time.
/ COMMON PITFALLS
Many parents assume that if an item is "educational," it will be eimbursed. Unfortunately, the state FES operate under strict, retroactive audit rules.
The Frequency Trap
Did you know purchasing a second tablet or printer within a 24-month window triggers an automatic denial?
The "Rollover" Caps
FES-UA and PEP accounts have strict maximum balance limits. If you do not actively utilize your funds strategically, the state will pause your disbursements.
The Core Compliance
Failing to submit a compliant Student Learning Plan or using an unapproved norm-referenced test will jeopardize your funding for the following year.
