One subject stopped working and you do not want to rebuild the whole year. We meet by video for an hour, I look at what your child is using, and within two business days you have a written replacement pick, with a second pick when two programs fit well so the choice is yours. Each one comes with its cost and the exact steps to buy it with scholarship funds. I am Brandon Smith, a Florida-certified teacher, and PEP and FES-UA can both pay for this session.

Book a Reset Session · $200

Before we meet, you fill out a short questionnaire from your confirmation email and send me the name of the program you are using, with a photo or two of a recent lesson if you can. That way the hour goes to the problem instead of the background.
We meet on a live video call for one hour. You tell me what the lessons look like day to day, where your child gets stuck, and how much time you have. I review the program you are using and ask the questions that separate a bad fit from a bad week.
Within two business days I send a written recommendation: a replacement program matched to how your child learns, and a second pick when two programs fit well so you can choose. For each one you get what it costs, how to buy it with PEP or FES-UA funds or privately, what to do with the materials you already own, and how to start. It looks like the sample below.
$200, one subject, one student. If more than one subject needs work, the Roadmap is the better fit, and I will say so on the call rather than sell you two Resets. I do not sell curriculum and I take no publisher commissions, so the pick is only ever the pick.

A SAMPLE RESET
Owen is an invented fourth grader. The program, the price and the purchase steps are real. This is what arrives in your inbox after our call.

SINGLE-SUBJECT RESET
You started a spiral workbook program in August. Owen can add and subtract multi-digit numbers with regrouping, he counts by twos, fives and tens without thinking, and he likes patterns and building things. Multiplication is the wall. He counts on his fingers for 6 times 7, he cannot explain what multiplication means, and a lesson that mixes four topics loses him by the second one. The timed fact drills turn a 45-minute lesson into 90 minutes, and three days out of five it ends in tears. You teach him yourself, you have about 45 minutes a day for math, and you would rather not be the one explaining it.
Math-U-See, Gamma level. Gamma is the multiplication level: 30 lessons that run from what a product is (a rectangle built from blocks) through the single-digit facts to multi-digit multiplication. It teaches one concept at a time and stays on it until he owns it, which is the opposite of the mixed lesson that loses him now. Each lesson opens with a short video, so the explaining is done for you, and the blocks let him build 6 times 7 as a rectangle instead of guessing at it. Nothing in it is timed. Practice comes from the workbook pages and the blocks.
Two things to know going in. The sequence is unusual: Gamma spends the whole year on multiplication and puts division, fractions and decimals in the three levels after it, so a mixed-topic test this year may dip while the foundation goes in. And the pages are plain black and white, which is fine for Owen and a letdown for a child who needs color.
Readiness: he meets every item on the Gamma placement checklist except the one we are fixing. Take the free placement test first at placement.mathusee.com. If it points to Beta, start there and move through it quickly.
Gamma Set: Instruction Manual, Student Workbook, Tests booklet, Integer Block Kit, and one year of online lesson videos (the activation card is in the box). $220.12. The video access is a one-year subscription; after the first year it renews for about $70 a year, or you can buy the lesson DVD instead. The blocks are a one-time purchase that carries through every later level.
Search MyScholarShop for the Gamma Set under the vendor Demme Learning (Math-U-See's publisher). If it is there, buy it through the portal and nothing comes out of pocket. If it is not, buy it at store.demmelearning.com, save the itemized, paid-in-full receipt, and submit it in EMA for reimbursement under Curriculum and Curriculum Materials. One thing to know: the lesson videos stream online, so you need a computer or tablet you already own. PEP funds cannot buy the device.
Stop the daily timed drills today. Put the workbook on the shelf. Its measurement and geometry pages are fine for a change of pace later in the year, and you do not need to finish the rest of it.
The first lesson is the day the box arrives. Watch the lesson video together (five to ten minutes), build the problem with the blocks, then do worksheet A. Stop at 30 minutes whatever page you are on. Move to the next lesson only when he can teach the concept back to you with the blocks; that is the whole test. Expect the first few lessons to take a week and a half each, then faster. If the book is not finished by May, that is fine. The goal is multiplication he owns.

Owen is an invented student. The program, its price and the purchase steps are real and were checked on the issue date above. When two programs fit a child well, the write-up gives both so the parent can choose. A real Reset runs one to two pages and arrives as a PDF within two business days of our call.
WHO IT IS FOR
One subject at a time. Find your family below.
01
Reading, writing, math, science or history. The rest of the year is fine, but one subject is a daily fight, or your child has stopped making progress in it. That is what the Reset is for.
02
Both scholarships can pay for this session, because Choice Navigator services are an eligible expense under each program's rules. Choose Reserve Without Paying when you book and reserve the $200 in EMA before we meet. Private-pay families pay by card when they book.
03
If two or more subjects are off, a Reset is the wrong purchase, and I will tell you that on the call. The Customized Academic Year Roadmap covers every core subject for $800. If you are not sure which you need, book the free 15-minute call first.
Not sure whether one subject or the whole year is the problem? Book the free 15-minute call and we will sort it out.
WHAT HAPPENS
Straight answers to what parents ask me before they book.
The questionnaire from your confirmation email, the name and level of the program you are using, and a photo of a recent lesson page and one of your child's work if you can. Nothing else. If you send nothing, we still meet and I ask.
No. The hour is with you. You know what the lessons look like at the table, and that is the information I need. I do not evaluate a child over a video call, and I will not pretend to.
Then I say so. Sometimes the program is fine and the level is wrong, or the schedule is. Your write-up names the change I would make, whatever it is, and if that change costs nothing, it costs nothing.
Yes. Choice Navigator services are an eligible expense under both PEP and FES-UA. Choose Reserve Without Paying at checkout and no card is asked for. Then reserve the $200 in EMA before we meet: open the Marketplace, select your student, choose Choice Navigator as the service category and service type, Online or Virtual as the class type, and type in Florida Curriculum Consulting. If you pay by card and plan to ask for reimbursement, I send an itemized paid receipt and a copy of my teaching certificate.
In most cases, yes, and your write-up gives the steps for your program: search MyScholarShop first, and if the program is not there, buy it direct and submit the receipt in EMA. The device to run an online program is the one exception. FES-UA funds can buy it. PEP funds cannot.
Your write-up tells you. Sometimes part of it stays in use for a different purpose, and sometimes it goes on the shelf. If a piece of it still serves your child, I say which piece.
Most families meet within a week of booking. The write-up arrives within two business days of the call, and most replacement programs ship or unlock within a week after that. A subject that is not working in October can be running on a new program before Thanksgiving.
You will get 35 answers, and every one of them was a great fit for someone else's child. I have vetted over 200 curricula in 15 years of doing this. I do not sell any of them, and the pick is matched to your child.
